Here is the proposed 112 "Beazer" homes going in next to Glenmoor and
Milan way. You only have until September 27 to ACT upon this and let the
City your thoughts about it!
Sept 13 UPDATE:
Looks as if the Communities of Brookview and Glenmoor
are VERY interested in making their ideas/thoughts/concerns heard to the
City. We need to make this happen in a VERY small amount of time. More
people doing a small amount of work is much easier than a few
shouldering this load.
What is needed by Monday Sept 18:
-
A community meeting within this next week, with
agenda and purpose - the goal of unified (as much as possible)
position to present to the City and Dunmore Homes
-
Volunteers
-
Flyer handouts and door knocking - do take a walk at
night anyway right now?
-
email forwards - tell everyone at school, church,
Safeway - wherever!
-
do you have any experience in this type of process?
-
EIRs
-
Oak Tree preservation
-
Land preservation
-
Traffic impacts
-
Air quality impacts
-
Printing of flyers for the mail boxes / doors
-
Any additional background information on this project, maps,
insight is VERY welcome
-
I am sure I have missed a ton of things - PLEASE fill out the
form below and I will GLADLY post them ASAP!
Waste Water Treatment Plant Reuse Plan - Charrette
Well its 'over' for now - I am talking about
the 4 day meeting to develop the old Waste Water Treatment plant.
Click here for the PDF about the
project. 309 NEW multi-density homes (from 4 plexs to single family homes - NO
Apartments planned which is a GREAT THING) expanded Schiber Park, new cemetery,
preservation of the Markham Ravine (from where this site started), NEV access,
and about 50 acres of untouched open space with enhanced trails. This project
still has to be 'bought' by a developer but the ground work has been laid by
those who attended to make their concerns known. Click on the What's new on the
Street to the left for more information on this with pictures from the event. We
will get our final 'say' in this project before final review from the City
(maybe 2-3 years from now).
Just in - we made the Lincoln News Messenger here is the
current article
The annual block party looks to happen October
7th. The Milan court party is still to be
announced. Pumpkin carving will again be hosted by the McCreary's (2138
5th Street) on Saturday 28th at noon, with prizes and tons of family
fun.
What do you think of Senior or Assisted Senior living
for the last open 'block' at the corner of 5th and Joiner Parkway? It is
zoned RD-20 so we need to make the best of it for sure...
-
Some Highlights for
Markham Ravine's 'process':
-
We are looking at the
October "Make a Difference Day" for the next official time to do
creek clean-up.
-
Primo Santini and Tom
Cosgrove were in attendance (City of Lincoln Council Member/Major)
"Retroactive impact on lots"
-
Scope of work and timetable were announced in a
handout - very brief
highlights of that info.
-
Public Workshop on 11.16.04
-
All studies on the creek to be completed by 1.5.05
-
Design Development starts on 1.20.05 and is finished by 4.8.05
-
City Hall presentation of Master Plan Concept 4.7.05
-
Public Review Period 6.17.05 to 7.28.05
-
Permit application 9.5.05
-
Construction review 4.12.06 thru 8.31.06
-
You will notice that the 2.26.05 'walk about' was NOT on their
agenda, but mandated from the responses from the public workshop on
11.16.04. The process works ONLY IF you take advantage of it by
participating.

There are to be 3 phases:
-
Phase I is Foskett Ranch and link up to the new Regional Park
(soccer/baseball, pool, trail system, picnic areas)
-
Phase II is the North Fork of Markham Ravine (trails, bike
lanes, gazebos, signage, picnic areas)
-
Phase III is the South Fork of Markham Ravine (to be
determined!)
-
So where is all of this happening, as it relates to me?
-
Here is a link to a graphic I made from the City of Lincoln website
for the general plan as it concerns 'our neighborhood' and has the
legend to make sense of all the parcels. Make your browser window full
screen for best results
-
Remember how we had to sign a waiver saying that we
would not allow access to the creek from our property. Well this goes 1 step
better - read this letter from
Matt Arnaiz
-
Here are some photos of 'before' of our creek became a 'hot'
topic. I'm sure the wild turkeys and pheasants didn't mind at all back then!

prior to any construction of Brookview at 1 meter resolution
(bummer about how many trees met the ax).

your door most likely
There has been a ton of work done behind the scenes all
ready by a few select individuals to get all of us to this point. Time for
the rest of the neighborhood to step up and continue this process.
Remember if
you don't like it, get involved and change it!
